This reducer goes in the 1/2" hex of a hole saw extension and has a 3/8" hex shape in the middle of it. This is beneficial when you are drilling a hoe with a hole saw arbor that uses a 3/8" hex to chuck in the drill but your hole saw extension only works with 1/2" hex chuck hole saw arbors.
